Team TotalEnergies excels at NOGIG 2026 with five gold and 10 bronze medals

TotalEnergies showcased a remarkable performance at the 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG 2026), placing fourth in the overall medals standings with five gold medals and ten bronze medals.

 This accomplishment signifies a notable advance compared to the firm’s sixth-place outcome at the 19th event held in 2024. The weeklong competition, which commenced on February 8 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, concluded with a vibrant medals presentation and closing ceremony on February 14, honoring togetherness, endurance, and sportsmanship within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) claimed the title of overall champions with 52 medals consisting of 20 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze, while the defending champions, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), secured the second spot with 49 medals.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) achieved third place with five gold, eight silver, and five bronze medals. TotalEnergies’ success was highlighted by Adesua Adewole, who earned gold in women’s golf and Nonye Finecountry, who excelled in the 8 Ball Pool competition. Veteran competitor Ejehi Effiong also made a mark by winning two gold medals in both lawn tennis and squash, along with bronze results in various other events.

The company’s Scrabble team, which included Reni Orioke, Ugonma Dennis Akano, Godfrey Ojile, and Emmanuel Egbele, added another gold medal to TotalEnergies’ accomplishments, showcasing the company’s prowess across diverse sports areas. Bronze medals were additionally won in men’s basketball, badminton, women’s 100m and 200m track events, men’s chess, women’s veteran and men’s veteran table tennis, women’s scrabble, women’s doubles tennis, and women’s singles tennis.

Apart from the medals, the Industry Games offered Team TotalEnergies, guided by Henry Ogufere, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, a chance to exhibit the Company’s core principle of “Standing Together. ” This sentiment was echoed by Mathieu Bouyer, the Country Chair of TotalEnergies in Nigeria, who motivated the athletes to approach the competition with pride and solidarity.

“Winning is significant, but the ultimate reward lies in the unity and collective experience that sports foster,” Mr. Bouyer conveyed in a goodwill statement during the closing event.
Bouyer was represented at the occasion by his Special Adviser, Cajetan Onu, while members of the People and Talent Management (PTM) team participated in a dinner organized to honor and inspire the participants.

Team TotalEnergies further made a strong impression with a lively march past and enthusiastic fan engagement, capturing the attention of spectators and competitors alike. Preliminary events for the 20th NOGIG took place from January 12 to January 17, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, before transitioning to the final phase in Abuja.

Alhaji Suleiman Suleiman, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, praised the participating companies for their sportsmanship and discipline, highlighting that the Games accomplished their goal of enhancing connections, advocating for fitness, and promoting healthy competition across the Oil and Gas Industry.
